More than 200 people, mostly civilians, were killed in the latest massacre caused by a brutal jihadist attack last Saturday in north-central Burkina Faso, confirmed on Thursday an international NGO worker living in the attacked town of Barsalogho.

“The town lost over 200 people. It’s unprecedented,” said Mahamadi Pafadnam, who works as a local community contact for an international humanitarian organization that prefers not to name for security reasons.
This confirms the figure given by the Group for Support of Islam and Muslims (JNIM), an organization linked to the terrorist network Al Qaeda operating in the Sahel and which claimed responsibility for the attack.
When the terrorists claimed responsibility, they released a propaganda video showing hundreds of people lying in pools of blood.
“We really don’t deserve this. The people of Barsalogho have made many sacrifices. Young people have mobilized to be VDP,” said Pafadnam, using the acronym for Homeland Defense Volunteers, civilians fighting jihadist groups in collaboration with the army.
The jihadists committed the attack while the neighbors were fulfilling military orders to dig trenches to stop the advance of the jihadists.
